Will a pen gift $60 for a professor consider “cheap” for them?
What is the most appropriate gift? This kind professor helped me a lot and I have a lot of respects for him. Help.

A nice letter than expresses how you feel. It’s sort of improper to buy something bigger than a box of chocolates or something.
The pen is fine. If you also get a “thank you” card just write inside “this is a token of my appreciation for all your help”. Or you can get the pen engraved with their initials.
$60 is alot. Why not give him a gift card. He might not want a pen.
A quality pen set does sound nice.
Also it is a good idea to give Gift Cards>
You could give Him a Gas (gift) Card!

They have collector coins that
can be purchased at banks and credit unions.
Sometimes the coins can even be engraved!
